Izabel Laxamana leaped to her death just days after her father posted a video to YouTube in an effort to publicly shame his daughter. Now, her friends and family are speculating whether or not the video pushed the young girl to take her life.
Laxamana’s father Jeff posted this alleged video of Izabel shortly after cutting his daughter’s hair off, additionally admonishing the girl while she quietly responded to his questions. He later removed the video, but not before it was captured by one of her friends:
Days later, it was reported the young girl exited a vehicle and jumped off a bridge onto a local interstate. She was taken to a Seattle hospital where she later died.
While, there can be hundreds of factors that go into a person’s decision to commit suicide, a Facebook page titled “Justice for Izabel” is calling for her father to be criminally prosecuted and even publicly shamed himself. As speculation rages over whether or not the video was the catalyst for Izabel’s decision, it has been pointed out that her social media indicates she had been feeling bullied at school. In a Google+ post from last year, she linked to a video created by YouTuber Kian Lawley, stating:
“I feel hated most of the time im in school i feel looked down on and i get judged alot…. But what keeps me going is people like kian who have gone through the same thing as me… In a school with so many people its weird to say “i feel alone” but the truth is that you really do feel alone. So thanks for everything kian….:”
Our hearts go out to her loved ones.
