Bart Baker Joins CAA, Are Mainstream Talent Agents Ready To Serve Digital Stars?

YouTube’s Prince of Parodies, Bart Baker, is the latest creator to sign with major talent house Creative Artists Agency better known as CAA. With over 6 million subscribers and 1.5 billion views under his belt, it’s likely that CAA will be able to open the door the door to bigger opportunities for Baker, opportunities that he didn’t find at his previous agency. Baker recently signed with Ari Emmanuel’s William Morris Endeavor, but apparently WME didn’t deliver fast enough for Baker who has jumped ship to CAA after just a few months.

CAA is increasingly becoming the talent shop of choice for Youtube stars. The agency has paid special attention to the digital space recently, signing stars like Jenna Marbles, Bethany Mota, Kian Lawley, Jc Caylen, Swoozie, and YouTube friendly a capella group Pentatonix. Eagle-eyed fans will note that all of those signees have appeared in splashy non-YouTube roles in recent months, from Mota’s appearance on Dancing With the Stars to Jenna Marble’s hosting gig on Sirius XM radio.

Baker’s CAA representation doesn’t change his relationship with his Disney-backed MCN, Maker Studios or with his management company 26MGMT. Like many YouTubers who have recently joined forces with traditional talent houses, Baker is hedging his bets on the mainstream talent system by maintaining his ties to companies that are native to the digital space that first made him a star.
