Once the MCNs were pretty established domestically and internationally, the only thing left for them to do was team up and achieve their final form … VOLTRON!
… I mean Collective Studio 71.
Yeah, Collective Digital Studios and ProSiebenSat.1 studios’ German-based MCN Studio71 have partnered to bridge the YouTube communities in a global setting. Also, ProSiebenSat.1 is bringing $83 million to the deal, so that doesn’t hurt.
Of course, it isn’t just about money, it’s also about partnerships and better opportunities for creators on both sides of the pond. There are some amazing and funny creators who have not yet cracked in the U.S. and this sort of partnership will allow for that.
Michael Green, Founder and Chairman CDS said in a release: “Through our existing ProSiebenSat.1 partnership, we have been able to greatly increase monetization for our creators in Germany. The combination of our two MCNS, backed by a strong financial foundation, will enable us to leverage opportunities throughout Europe, the Americas, and other territories to establish the first truly global MCN. There will also be a strong focus on bringing in broadcast partners for all these territories worldwide.”
In the same release, Dr. Christian Wegner, Member of the Executive Board ProSiebenSat.1, said, “ProSiebenSat.1 created and built up its own MCN with Studio71, and it has established itself as the largest network in the German-speaking world. By founding Collective Studio71 we will now instantly be a global player in this attractive growth market.”
Everybody in a suit and tie seems pretty excited about this new deal between two monster Multi-Channel Networks. Of course, once one MCN does something innovative, they usually all have to leap aboard, so now the question becomes: who’s next to partner?
