An interesting situation is forming on YouTube: they just hired Susanne Daniels to head their YouTube Originals program.
What’s odd about that you ask? Well MTV has spent the last several years trying to be more like YouTube. And in YouTube hiring MTV’s head of programming, YouTube is essentially saying they want to be more like MTV.
Daniels, while not directly responsible for the Jersey Shore situation (she’s only been at MTV since 2012), is a bold hire for YouTube who is feeling increased competition from the likes of Facebook. Her past shows include Dawson Creek, Army Wives and Gilmore Girls, so my wife will certainly be excited to see what she can do for YouTube Originals, the visual innovations arm of YouTube.
So if anything upcoming has “… & pregnant” in the title, you know who to blame.
