Dave Burd just got word that he’s a number one rapper. He’s gonna do well as a fur trapper — beaver — spittin’ money verse through my mobile receiver. No, I am not gonna go on like that, but believe me I did consider rapping this entire article, so be thankful that I didn’t.

Burd, better known round the YouTube-iverse as Lil Dicky has been dropping his videos on us for a while now, so it’s good to see that once he released an album, it blew up on the charts as well.

His studio comedy-rap album effort Professional Rapper just hit number one on the Billboard comedy charts with 22,000 units moved since its release last week. The effort also puts him at #7 on the Billboard 200 chart, according to Billboard.com.

Lil’ Dicky got his start back in 2013 with his hit video “Ex-Boyfriend” and its follow up “White Dude” and from there he started a crowdfunding campaign to remain independent of the record labels. It was a gambit that paid off and raised him over $110,000 on Kickstarter.

Snoop Dogg even came in to help with the title track (video at top) certifying Lil Dicky’s cred as one to be taken seriously in the rap game. Let’s just say it has got to be a pretty dope time to be Lil Dicky.
