After the events in Virginia today, where a former TV news reporter killed two of his former colleagues, Mr. Robot has announced it will delay the premiere of its season finale for a week. The news, released in a statement by USA, the network in charge of the hacker cult show, stated that elements of the finale bore close relations to the events that claimed the lives of Alison Parker and Adam Ward.
The show, which stars Christian Slater and Rami Malek, deals with a depressed young hacker who begins solving crimes after he is contacted by a mysterious person known as “Mr. Robot.” A sensation with viewers, the show has already been picked up for two more seasons before even ending its initial season run.
It is not the first time that entertainment has been affected by tragedy — several Hollywood movies were delayed or re-edited in the wake of the 9/11 bombings and the Emma Stone film Gangster Squad had to have a theatre shooting scene changed after a gunman opened fire in a movie theatre shortly before its release.
