Reddit in the 1980s: What’s That Like?

Set down that NES controller and check out this tubular home video!

This VHS shows us Reddit and all of its glory, as if the website was constructed in the 1980s. It demonstrates to us where someone can obtain the Reddit floppy disk, how to install, and how to maneuver yourself around the program. They were even considerate enough to show off an informative PowerPoint, explaining the do’s and don’ts of this program. Now isn’t that radical?!

But in all seriousness, this is pretty fantastic because it captures just about every aspect there was to using a computer back in the 1980s. Back then, Reddit wouldn’t be some sort of simple forum website. It would be a program you would have to purchase and install to your computer and to even have access to Imgur, you would have to first check if your computer can even run it. Instead of clicking in and out of forums, you need to type in certain commands. That’d be the only way to surf “the front page of the Internet”.

However, there is one thing that won’t change, whether or not it came into existence in 1981 or 2005, it’s the weird subreddits. There will always be subreddits like r/HitlerInSocks or r/TsundereSharks.
