If your name is “Apocalypse,” do you really care if the world ends?
On October 8, 20th Century Fox and Mars Chocolate North America announced that M&M’s would be partnering with the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse film. But what’s even more exciting to chocolate-loving superhero fanatics is that the synopsis of the film, due out May 27, 2016, was included in the press release.
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
Joining Fassbender, Lawrence, McAvoy, and Nicholas Hoult will be Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, and Lucas Till as Havok, all reprising their roles from previous films. Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Ben Hardy as Angel, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Olivia Munn as Psylocke and Lana Condor as Jubilee will appear in the new film as well, with Oscar Isaac starring as Apocalypse.
X-Men: Apocalypse is said to be the final installment in the most recent X-Men trilogy, which included X-Men: First Class (2011) and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).
